Personal :: MySpace's Awesome Design Capabilities...
  submitted on February 11, 2007, 11:25 PM

I'm not an idiot, and I can appreciate the sheer force that MySpace has on the web community. The sheer number of users provides for some opportunities for serious exposure from people trying to get their name out there.

That being said, the design aspect of MySpace is horrendous. The site just reminds all of us why it's important for people to have some kind of clue as to what they're doing when they try and design a site. However, the problem isn't even just that idiots are designing webpages. The design element of the site is so bad, that even someone like myself who knows his way around HTML and CSS struggles to come up with a good looking page. Well, I Googled around and found Mike Davidson, who typed up a fantastic blog entry about the intricacies of a MySpace profile page. His MySpace page looks simply amazing, and I hope I can dissect his CSS enough to put together a page half as good as what he came up with.

Again, I don't care much for MySpace, and I don't do much with it, but I do appreciate its importance, so I feel an obligation to create a representation of myself on their network.
